(Future?) Badger Observer: 2027 OL Hunter Mallinger
A look at another in-state lineman turning the heads of Power Four staff members.

GERMANTOWN, Wis. — Hunter Mallinger simply was a menace Friday when asked to downblock, and that included getting to knock a good buddy down to the ground.
Mallinger and his twin brother, Reece Mallinger, helped secure a 23-21 win for Sussex Hamilton at Germantown on Friday. Germantown boasts consensus four-star recruit Cole Reiter, and one of the storylines of the Greater Metro Conference clash was a battle of 2027 projected offensive linemen who also play on both sides of the ball at the high school level.
Each player had their bright spots, which included Hunter Mallinger getting lower than Reiter on a run block that sent the Germantown standout to the turf.
“It felt great going against Cole,” Mallinger said. “He’s obviously a great player. He’s a big body. On D-line, he’s so hard to move, you got to double team him every time, every chance you get, or else he’s going to get a TFL every single time.
“But he’s good competition. So overall, just fun going against him.”
The (Future?) Badger Observer series continues, covering and evaluating uncommitted players who are being recruited by Wisconsin. We’ve already seen a few class of 2027 in-state recruits and will be watching more over the course of the fall.
Be sure to check out our breakdowns of Reece Mallinger, Verona offensive lineman Ethan McIntosh, Waukesha Catholic Memorial’s Isaac Miller and Germantown’s Cole Reiter.
