Wisconsin volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield looks ahead, gives update on Charlie Fuerbringer

Here's what the legendary Badgers' coach said Monday.

MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin volleyball team will continues its final month of the regular season with two key home matches this week.

Wisconsin (16-4, 9-3 Big Ten) rebounded from a Friday loss to No. 1 Nebraska by decimating Ohio State on Sunday. Now it’s set to host Minnesota (17-6, 7-5) and Indiana (18-4, 9-3) in the coming six days, and both upcoming conference foes were ranked in the AVCA Top 25 last week.

“Very good Minnesota team, and then maybe the best team that Indiana has ever had on Sunday, so certainly looking forward to the opportunities in front of us,” Sheffield said.

Here’s what Sheffield spoke about Monday:

  • What needs to happen for Wisconsin to become more competitive against ranked teams

  • An update on injured sophomore setter Charlie Fuerbringer

  • What stood out the most about Sunday’s win at Ohio State

  • What’s impressed Sheffield the most about Indiana’s season

  • Managing schedules this time of the year with maintaining health of players
