GREENDALE, Wis. — Jack Tabbert and his 6-foot-5, 275-pound frame frequently led Pewaukee’s backs to open field, and the end zone, during a season-opening win.
Pewaukee traveled to Greendale to kick off its 2026 campaign and proceeded to roll up significant yardage on the ground behind its offensive line that boasts two Power Four commits: Tabbert, who flipped from North Dakota State to the University of Wisconsin football in June, and Northwestern’s Cade Reikowski. Tabbert’s athleticism was part of the reason the Pirates dominated in a 42-7 road victory.
“I think that’s kind of a lot of what our offense is based around, of getting me in space, having me kick people out,” Tabbert said after the win. “How many times did we run counter where I’m kicking that guy out or sweep. We probably scored five touchdowns on those plays.
“That’s what I’m known for, I guess, and just that physicality to be able to kick people out and put them in the ground. But also there’s a lot of times where there were some disciplined defensive ends, and in the start of the game, they were squeezing. So being able to log (block) them and have the backs bounce outside and go for a 40-yard run, it’s just props to them too.”
Badger Observer spoke with Tabbert, a three-star recruit, after the blowout about the following:
Playing with Reikowski
How he describes himself as an offensive lineman
Bonding with the other 2027 Wisconsin commits
Where he’s seen himself grow the most from his junior season to now
What areas he wants to grow in before he heads to Wisconsin
Now’s the perfect time to take advantage of Badger Observer’s new deal where fans can get ALL the coverage from Big Ten football media days, fall camp, recruiting and much more for $2 a month or $20/year!
