Wisconsin volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield availability after Penn State, Maryland

Watch and listen to the Badgers coach regarding the weekend split out on the east coast, along with some injury updates.

MADISON, Wis. — The Big Ten schedule continues to move forward for coach Kelly Sheffield and his University of Wisconsin volleyball program.

Wisconsin (12-2, 5-1 Big Ten) split their weekend road matches, losing to ranked Penn State on Friday before rebounding with a three-set sweep at Maryland on Sunday. The upcoming weekend brings home matches against UCLA on Friday and ranked Southern Cal on Sunday.

“Had a tough one with our first match,” Sheffield said. “Really loved to see how we bounced back in our in our second match at Maryland. Lot of things to learn from that. That’s what Saturday, the day between our two matches, was about kind of diving in the film and learning from that and moving forward. I thought we did an excellent job with that.”

“And we’ve got the (Los Angeles) schools coming in here this weekend, two really talented teams. I think UCLA we have on Friday night already has four top-25 wins on the season, and a very young and talented USC team on Sunday.”

Here’s what Sheffield touched on during his nearly 10-minute availability Monday:

  • Evaluating the play of freshman setter Addy Horner this past weekend

  • What they stressed during film study between the Penn State loss and Maryland win

  • The impact of transfer middle blocker Alicia Andrew

  • How All-American Mimi Colyer responded after her subpar performance at Penn State

  • Injury updates on sophomore setter Charlie Fuerbringer and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Grace Egan
