How a former Wisconsin lineman continues to give back with 'Kaden's Wish'

A look into what continues to drive Steve Stark and Kaden's Wish to help other families.

MADISON, Wis. — Steve Stark helped set the standard of the modern-day University of Wisconsin football program, but he and his family have been carrying on a greater legacy of helping families.

Wisconsin fans may have noticed a large tent just outside Union South on Saturday before walking over to Camp Randall Stadium to watch the Badgers’ win over Middle Tennessee. Kaden’s Wish hosted a large tailgate in the hopes of raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Wisconsin chapter.

Stark’s a former Wisconsin offensive lineman that was part of the 1993 football team that won the 1994 Rose Bowl. He said just under 200 people were supposed to be in attendance for the tailgate, which he said has been running now for about five years at Union South.

“So a wish is somewhere in the neighborhood of about $6,000 to $7,500,” Stark said. “After our expenses and everything, everything else goes to the (Make-A-Wish). Every penny goes to wishes.

“So we'll probably grant four or five wishes with this event (Saturday). We did four last year. I think we'll probably do five this year, and again, wouldn't be possible without our generosity of our sponsors, and just a lot of people willing to donate.”

Watch the above video to see how the Kaden’s Wish came to be, the new goal Stark and the organization has, and more.
