RECRUITING: Jayden Petit 'still committed' to Wisconsin football; inside a call with Badgers recruits; weekend visitors

The University of Wisconsin football program continues to prioritize one of its highly-regarded commits as the early signing period looms less than a month away.
Jayden Petit’s a four-star recruit who plays for former Wisconsin captain Chris Maragos at Naples St. John Neumann, and he’s been verbally committed to the Badgers since the summer. But as this is the prime time of poaching season for this recruiting cycle, schools are trying to flip recruits late to bolster their future.
Badgers wide receivers coach Jordan Reid communicated with Petit last week, but the assistant isn’t the only one from Wisconsin reaching out to Petit and his family. Coach Luke Fickell also spoke with Petit’s father, according to Petit’s cousin, Jackyson Bazile.
“Coach Fickell was basically saying the way they’re at with the state of the program right now, and what they’re trying to do, and they continue to work on trying to build a program back to where it was,” Bazile said. “And they’re dealing with some injuries, and that’s what they’re dealing with, the fact that they lost their quarterback to injuries and other players and stuff like that.”
