New Wisconsin football assistant already in touch with Brady Bekkenhuis
More on Bekkenhuis and how his relationship with the Badgers quickly developed, as well as a chat with Kah'ni Watts from last week about his decision to flip to Wisconsin.

Brady Bekkenhuis saw the news of his future offensive line coach’s departure on social media Wednesday.
But the University of Wisconsin football staff swooped in shortly thereafter, and he’s already been in contact with his new mentor.
Bekkenhuis is the only scholarship offensive line signee for Wisconsin’s 2026 recruiting class. The Badgers quickly pivoted to the the Arlington, Massachusetts, native after losing previous commits Ben Novak and Maddox Cochrane last month. A major part of that staff included assistant AJ Blazek, who is now no longer with the program.
Imagine that hitting your news feed about a month away from heading off to college after flipping from your hometown program just a few weeks ago. But offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes brought in his former offensive line coach at two previous stops, Eric Mateos, to guide the unit.
Grimes reached out to see how Bekkenhuis was doing on Wednesday morning.
“He told me that they’re bringing in a new guy to coach the line,” Bekkenhuis said. “And he told me about how he knows them very well. They coached at BYU, they at coached Baylor together, and he trusts him.
“He’s a dude that’s …. you could say, produced some of the best lines in the country.”
