MADISON, Wis. — The dual-threat abilities of the University of Wisconsin football program’s new QB1 shined late in practice Saturday.

The final 11-on-11 series for Colton Joseph and Wisconsin’s first-team offense inside Camp Randall Stadium allowed him to keep the ball in his hands twice. He took his last snap of the practice and burst off to the right side of the field, showing why the Badgers pursued and ultimately signed him in providing yet another rushing option opposing defenses will have to account for in the fall.

Joseph rushed for 1,654 yards rushing on 6.1 yards per carry and 24 touchdowns on the ground over the last two seasons at Old Dominion. He accumulated 1,007 yards rushing on 6.4 yards per carry and 13 touchdowns alone in 2025.

Another new quarterback, freshman Ryan Hopkins, also impressed on a run of his own to the right on the third-to-last 11-on-11 rep. Hopkins showed his prep track speed, accelerated and quickly reached the deeper levels of the defense quickly.

Here are more takeaways from Wisconsin’s second spring practice of 2026.

A better day for Wisconsin’s quarterbacks overall than Thursday
