A busy weekend away from Madison and homecoming festivities for the University of Wisconsin volleyball team has been months in the making, but also been subject to change.

By the time Badgers fans read this, No. 7 Wisconsin (11-1, 4-0 Big Ten) will already be in State College, Pennsylvania, preparing for a 6 p.m. CT match Friday against No. 19 Penn State (8-6, 2-2). The team will stay out east the entire weekend as it will play Maryland (7-7, 0-4) on Sunday. This is the first of a few unique weekends where the Badgers will play consecutive road games.

Longtime director of volleyball operations Jessica Williams has been working on this weekend’s particular travel schedule since the beginning of May.

“Every trip is different,” Williams said. “For us, I don’t feel like there’s a cookie cutter, copy (and) paste, one trip to another. We’re constantly trying to figure out, are we practicing there? Are we practicing here? Are we going after the match? Are we staying? Are we flying? Are we driving?

“So there’s just a whole bunch of different things we’re working with. I feel like we have a model of what we try to do, but I don’t think it’s just like a copy (and) paste for every single trip, if that makes sense.”
