A unique matchup awaits Wisconsin volleyball's Alicia Andrew
A chat with the Wisconsin middle blocker as her sister stands in her way of an Elite Eight berth.
MADISON, Wis. — Alicia Andrew lined up alongside her two sisters in the front row on way to winning a state championship in high school.
She’ll now take on her younger sister for the first time ever to hopes of advancing deep into the NCAA Tournament.
Andrew will likely look across the net at some point Friday afternoon and see that familiar face, fellow middle blocker Lizzy Andrew, when Wisconsin (26-4) and Stanford (29-4) collide during a Sweet 16 matchup in Austin, Texas. Whichever program advances will have to quickly prepare for the winner of Texas and Indiana with a Final Four berth on the line.
“Yes, she’s my sister. I love her,” Andrew said. “But on the volleyball side, there might be some laughing, some laughs, some smiles at the net, but we’re here to take care of business.
“We want to win.”
