MADISON, Wis. — It’s not just the transfers among the new University of Wisconsin volleyball players who are heavily contributing this season.

Yes, All-American transfer Mimi Colyer continues to do All-American things. Grace Egan (previously at Ohio State) showed her strong swing and difficult serve early on, and former Baylor middle blocker Alicia Andrew’s formed a strong tandem with the returning Carter Booth.

But Wisconsin (9-1, 2-0 Big Ten) has also relied on its strong core of 2025 freshmen — notably libero/defensive specialist Kristen Simon, outside hitter Madison Quest and middle blocker Natalie Wardlow — to reload rather than rebuild this season.

“What I like is that they’ve come in there, and there’s been an element of toughness with each of them, and they haven’t flinched,” coach Kelly Sheffield said.
