MADISON, Wis. — It was a mixed bag for the University of Wisconsin volleyball program at home against two relatively new Big Ten foes this week.
But Kelly Sheffield thinks a Sunday home loss still has its benefits.
Wisconsin (13-3, 6-2 Big Ten) swept No. 23 UCLA on Friday night, but fell in an overall competitive four-set loss to No. 25 Southern Cal two days later.
“I thought the UCLA match, I thought that we put together one of our better matches of the season,” Sheffield said. “Thought we came out firing. I just thought it was just a great match for us.
“The next match against Southern Cal, I also thought is a match that is going to do great good for us. Although you come down with a loss, I just thought that was a match that was just going to be so good for both teams. And that’s not me putting a positive spin on a loss. It’s just genuinely what I believe.”
Now the Badgers will head out west for a weekend at Washington for a Friday night contest before playing at Oregon two days later.
