MADISON, Wis. — Times have certainly changed for the University of Wisconsin volleyball program as fans filled the seats of the Kohl Center.

Even with the state’s most popular football team on at the same time.

And luckily for those Badgers fans in attendance, they saw a four-set thriller that ended in victory compared to the Cleveland Browns upsetting the beloved Green Bay Packers.

No. 7 Wisconsin (7-1) eventually gained its footing after a rough first set and came away with 3-1 win over No. 15 Florida (5-4) in front of a reported 12,277. That included a long-winded 36-34 fourth set.

“I told these guys, I don't know if it was today or yesterday or something, but I remember my first year here (at Wisconsin) at the Field House,” Wisconsin coach Kelly Sheffield said. “And we had discussions on us playing up against the Packers. This was when the lower bowl was the only thing that was was open. We hadn't had the upper deck opened up.

“We had long dialogues on should all the TVs in the concourses have the Packers game on so we can entice people? You can still come and watch us, but we'll also give you the Packers game so that you can go and maybe cheer from the corridor of the concourse. And you fast forward to today, and you’re getting over 12,000 people in here up against them, and I think everybody was treated to a special match.”

Here are several other thoughts from the Badgers’ win.
