Which matches Wisconsin volleyball players are most anticipating, excited for this season
It's a packed schedule for the Badgers this season. Here's which matches certain Badgers are excited for.
MADISON, Wis. — Grace Egan sees two matches laying the groundwork for the 2025 University of Wisconsin volleyball season.
Egan, the redshirt sophomore outside hitter who transferred from Ohio State in the offseason, is one of 10 new Badgers who will face an intriguing nonconference schedule. No. 8 Wisconsin will play three games at the Kohl Center against currently-ranked foes, including No. 14 Kansas and No. 5 Texas this weekend. The Badgers also travel to Milwaukee for a mid-September matchup with interstate rival Marquette at Fiserv Forum.
Couple that with a strenuous October that includes a trip to No. 2 Penn State, consecutive weekends that include facing the four newest members of the Big Ten, and a Halloween matchup against No. 1 Nebraska inside the Field House.
There’s the saying that every player is looking forward to every match played, of course. But Egan’s most anticipating Friday’s season opener and hosting Rutgers on Sept. 26.
“I would say, honestly, our first game coming up Kansas,” Egan said. “And then Big Ten, I would just say our first game, because … it sets the tone for the season. … Since we're all new, it shows us how we are able to play together, and how fast we're going to be going.
“And I feel, just our openers, I'm really excited for.”
