Devyn Robinson knew this summer that the 2025 University of Wisconsin volleyball team was going to go far.

Robinson hasn’t been able to watch any of Wisconsin’s games this season while playing overseas, but she practiced with the program during their open gyms and participated in the team’s Red & White Scrimmage in August. She’s also watched highlights on social media and talked to one of her best friends, middle blocker Carter Booth.

Robinson’s just one of a few former Badgers who have been keeping tabs on Wisconsin (28-4) as it now enters its sixth NCAA Tournament national semifinal appearance under coach Kelly Sheffield.

“They had all the tools and the capacity to do so,” Robinson said. “And I know they hit a little bit of a slump in the middle of the season, but I feel like you got to go down to go back up.

“They’re clearly on the rise and have yet to play their best volleyball so far.”

Badger Observer spoke with Robinson and two others with ties to Wisconsin, opposite hitter Temi Thomas-Ailara and libero-turned-assistant Annemarie Hickey, within the last day to hear their thoughts on this program before the Final Four matchup against Kentucky on Thursday night.

Hickey: ‘This is a completely different team’
