It didn’t take long for Jake Anderson to find his next collegiate home.

It’s the program he grew up cheering for.

There was plenty of interest in Anderson, who contributed heavily at Illinois State and was coming off an FCS Championship game appearance, after entering the transfer portal. But he told his agent that he wanted the University of Wisconsin football program at the top of his list if the Badgers reached out and a trip booked to Madison as soon as possible.

Defensive line coach E.J. Whitlow indeed contacted him, and unsurprisingly, he’ll be spending his final season at Wisconsin.

“The second that my name hit the portal, their coach Whitlow hit me up,” Anderson said. “And we started talking, got a visit set for the next day.

“And I was up there, visited, and I loved it here. Signed the same day.”
