Creating alternate uniforms for the University of Wisconsin football program isn’t an overnight process.

Wisconsin revealed Thursday its alternate helmet, uniforms and pants that the team will wear for the Oct. 11 homecoming matchup against Iowa. The look can be described as an homage to what Badgers teams similarly wore in the mid-1980s.

The Badgers aren’t strangers to wearing alternate uniforms on the field under the Under Armour umbrella, as seen in a 2019 home matchup against Northwestern and 2021 against Notre Dame at Soldier Field. Multiple stakeholders in and out of the university worked together for these particular 2025 throwbacks during a timeline that stretched well before last season.
