7 takeaways from Wisconsin football's fall camp roster
What to know about the latest updates to the Badgers' football program.

One of the University of Wisconsin football program’s emerging freshmen continues to pack on the weight.
Outside linebacker Nick Clayton is now up to a listed 237 pounds, according to Wisconsin’s 2025 fall camp roster that was released Monday That’s up 14 pounds on his 6-foot-5 frame from a designated 223 pounds on the Badgers’ spring camp roster that was released in March. Wisconsin has updated its players’ weights twice a year, once before spring ball and once before preseason practices commence.
Clayton enrolled early and was one of a few freshmen standouts during those spring practices that ran into late April, particularly with his early pass rush success.
He wasn’t the only first-year player who made some gains during summer conditioning. Offensive lineman Hardy Watts jumped 19 pounds from 295 to 314, while three other freshmen – safety Luke Emmerich (from 195 to 209), defensive lineman Torin Pettaway (273 to 287) and offensive lineman Michael Roeske (308 to 322) – each gained 14 pounds.
Redshirt junior defensive lineman Charles Perkins, who shined during spring practices after transferring from FCS program UT-Martin, bumped up from 316 pounds in the spring to 323. He’s among eight players projected to play around the Badgers’ defensive front that weigh over 300 pounds or heavier.
Those who dropped significant weight between spring and fall camp rosters included offensive lineman Joey Okla (down 15 pounds from a listed 317 to 302), outside linebacker Corey Walker (down seven pounds from 297 to 290), and safety Matthew Traynor (down seven pounds from 215 to 208).
