MADISON, Wis. — Business has recently picked up for Carter Smith.

Smith, the former four-star 2025 recruit, just started the first game of his career Saturday at No. 2 Indiana. That was after receiving the lion’s share of snaps at quarterback during the University of Wisconsin football team’s 13-10 upset over then-ranked Washington due to an early injury to sophomore Danny O’Neil.

Now Smith continues preparation ahead of Wisconsin (3-7, 1-6 Big Ten) hosting Illinois (7-3, 4-3) for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff Saturday.

“It’s a lot more film, lot more meetings, and just anchoring down, trying to make sure all the what’s and why’s and know what they’re planning on doing, what we could see,” Smith said.
