MADISON, Wis. — Greg Gard’s deep dive into the University of Wisconsin basketball team’s next opponent would start on a Sunday night, but he also knew not to take this for granted.

Wisconsin (24-10) received the No. 5 seed in the West region of the NCAA Tournament and will play No. 12 High Point (30-4) in Portland, Oregon. Tipoff’s set for 12:50 p.m. CT on Thursday.

The Panthers dominated the Big South Conference with a 15-1 mark and won its league’s tournament last Sunday, and they’re among the nation’s best in a couple key categories.

“I’ll start watching them here as soon as I leave this press conference and use the next 24 hours before we get on the floor tomorrow to prepare for what we know will be a good team,” Gard said.

“So excited to be in it. I don’t care where we get sent, who we have to play. Just eager to have the opportunity to make a deep run.”

Here are key stats and players to know.
